For more than 30 years, Barc Upchurch, owner and designer of Barclay Designs LLC, has built a reputation for transforming homes across Maryland’s Eastern Shore and beyond through craftsmanship, integrity, and an eye for timeless design.
Barc began his career in 1994 with a residential construction company in Talbot County, where he developed a deep appreciation for how homes come together from the ground up. Over time, his passion gravitated toward the most personal and intricate spaces, kitchens and baths, where artistry, function, and everyday living intersect.
At Barclay Designs, Barc’s philosophy is simple yet powerful: design should be personal, not procedural. Clients work directly with him from the first concept to the final installation, no showroom layers, no handoffs. Each project benefits from his hands-on approach, discerning eye, and unwavering commitment to quality. Whether it’s custom cabinetry, millwork, or full kitchen and bath design, Barc brings precision, empathy, and creativity to every home he touches.
His work has extended throughout Delmarva, Annapolis, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Charlottesville, and even Fort Lauderdale, earning recognition for both craftsmanship and connection. In 2010, he received a Heritage Award for the preservation of a historic property in downtown Easton, Maryland, honoring his respect for architectural heritage. In 2014, his collaboration on an HGTV House Hunters Renovation episode showcased his ability to blend traditional craftsmanship with modern design on a national stage.
